Let me be honest: I’m totally against the idea of regular donations. Here’s why: when you start giving someone money consistently, they often begin to feel like it’s their right to receive it. Instead of using that help to improve themselves, they get stuck in this loop of dependency. And honestly? When I see people donating to someone just to build them a house but not helping them develop any skills, it feels a bit ridiculous to me.
It’s almost like donors walk around with a mental checklist, waiting to brag to the universe: “Hey God, look at me! I’ve donated today. Don’t forget to give me some good karma points!”
A Better Way to Help
I’m all for helping people, but not by blindly giving donations. Let’s say you’ve decided to donate $3 every day. That’s a wonderful thought. But what if you could use that money in a way that creates lasting change?
Here’s an idea: save up that $3 every day for 5 months. That’s $450. Now, instead of just handing that cash to someone, use it to create opportunities for them to stand on their own feet.
Step 1: Invest in Tools
With $450, you can buy a decent second-hand computer for around $200. Then, spend another $60 to get 5 domain names and hosting for a year (trust me, there are budget-friendly options out there).
Step 2: Teach Them to Work Online
Find someone who’s really in need of help and genuinely trying to improve their situation. Give them the computer, set up the domains, and teach them how to publish content online. Tools like ChatGPT make writing easier, so they can aim to publish 2-3 articles per site every day. Writing and uploading these shouldn’t take more than 1-2 hours a day. The rest of the time? Encourage them to promote their sites on social media.
The goal: in 6 months, each site should have at least 100 organic visitors daily.
Step 3: Add a Green Touch
On top of their online work, ask them to plant at least 7 vegetable saplings a week and 1 fruit tree every month. Not only will this help with food security, but it’ll also teach them valuable life skills.
Step 4: Offer a Monthly Stipend
Since you planned to donate $3 a day anyway, give them $80 per month as a stipend for their efforts. Use the remaining $10 to cover gardening supplies.
The Results After 1 Year
If this plan is followed consistently, here’s what happens after a year:
- That person now has real skills.
- They can work on their sites and earn money independently.
- You’ve not just helped someone temporarily, you’ve created lasting change.
Meanwhile, the 5 websites will likely start generating income through platforms like Google AdSense, Adsterra, or Amazon. And guess what? You can use that extra income to help another person the same way.
Stop Donating, Start Empowering
So here’s my plea: stop giving handouts. Instead, think about how you can help someone build a better future. It’s not just about charity, it’s about making a real difference.
Wishing you all the best in your journey to create lasting impact!
